Verlain’s Reunion

In 2006 my friend, musician John Greaves, composed an album covering about 10 poems by Paul Verlaine (French poet 1844-1896). The CD was released and I particularly liked this track, Colloque Sentimental.

This dream poem about a reunion and chat between two lovers, well after their physical bodies have died, in a strange way spoke to my pet concept of Eternal love.

Then in 2007 I ask my friend, Eugene Seregin, to make two simple puppets that I could use to find a visual essence of the song/poem. I struggled for 5 years to figure out how to stage this piece and finally decided in 2012, while attending the Berlin Film Fest., to perform it. I sung it in English and French live. Then in 2013 I performed it again in Los Angeles and shortly after, I decided to finally complete the film version of this ethereal event. VOILÁ ETERNAL LOVE!
