Silent film- rated R.
Lorelei is a mythical character of Celt origin. Her tale is found in Germany, a place not often associated with the Lady of the Lake, and the river Nymphs. Around 1840, Heinrich Heine wrote a famous poem about Lorelei and it became a popular folk song known to most modern day Germans. The poem centered around her seductive power and a fatal attraction for the boatmen. That version did not work for me because it was just too unfair- blaming the woman for the temptation and putting the boatmen into the role of victim. I added opening elements to frame the emotion of profound loss.
